The Five Winds – Lendie Bliss on Bassoon, Kelly Elliot on French Horn, Martin Sobelman on Clarinet, Rachel Thoroughman on Oboe, and Rebecca Olson Towers on Flute – established their quintet in September of 2018. They all play in various large groups in the Portland Metro area, such as symphony orchestras, wind bands, and jazz ensembles. While their backgrounds are diverse, they share a passion for music-making and performing. Their varied program will include works by English Malcolm Arnold, French female composer Hedwige Chretian, present day American composer Skip Livingston, Maurice Ravel, and Austrian composer Alexander Zemlinsky.
